How to plan a Stellenbosch lunch day
Stellenbosch is about 55 km from Cape Town, typically 45 to 60 minutes by road. See our Stellenbosch region guide for more on the area.
A good rhythm is one tasting in the morning, a long lunch, then one more tasting in the afternoon. Trying to fit in more usually means rushing the meal.
- Book the restaurant first. Weekends and summer fill up, and some farms require tasting bookings too.
- Group farms by area. Delaire Graff and Tokara are close together on the Helshoogte Pass. Simonsig, Delheim and Warwick are north of town.
- Check opening days. Hours differ between the tasting room and the restaurant, and some restaurants are dinner-only.
- Don’t drive yourself. A tour or driver lets everyone enjoy the wine with lunch.
