The experience
A winelands day planned around the whole family. The estates and stops are chosen with children in mind, so while the adults enjoy their tastings, the kids have their own grape juice tasting with sweet pairings, plus farmyards, gardens and play areas to explore.
The route centres on the Franschhoek valley and the foot of the Simonsberg. Stops include Babylonstoren, known for its working farm and gardens, historic Rickety Bridge, time in Franschhoek village and a visit to Huguenot Fine Chocolates on the main street. You travel in private transport with a live guide, and all tastings, food pairings and children’s snacks are included, as are soft drinks and water.
Pickup is from your accommodation or a set meeting point at about 09:00, and the day runs to around eight hours. Lunch is extra, and the guide picks the best vineyard for it based on the weather and your children’s ages. The tour is wheelchair and pram friendly, and dietary needs can be catered for if you note them when booking. Children are only ever served alcohol-free drinks.
